What is the International College?

The International College was established in August 2010 to oversee degree programs taught in English at Osaka University as part of the Project for Establishing Core Universities for Internationalization, more commonly referred to as the Global 30 program.
The International College aims to improve the competitiveness of Osaka University by providing an environment that makes it easier for international students to study in Japan and receive a high quality education and, thereby, nurture personnel who can play an active role in the competitive global arena.

Osaka University is recognized as one of the leading research universities in the world and is at the forefront of technological and social innovation. It is consistently ranked among the best universities in Asia and the world. With a history dating back to 1931, Osaka University is one of the most prestigious comprehensive universities in Japan.

Osaka University has upwards of 25,000 students, and our undergraduate student body is the largest of that of all national universities in Japan. Eight percent of all students are international students, and we have a variety of programs for our students from overseas. We offer extensive support for international students both before and after their arrival in Japan, and we are planning to further internationalize our university and increase the ratio of international students to 10 per cent in the coming years.

Osaka University Dorm Tour

Osaka is the central hub in the Kansai region, which collectively encompasses Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Hyogo and Wakayama prefectures.
The area features places of natural beauty and countless temples, boasting a World Heritage site on Koyasan, Wakayama as well as a variety of cultural points of interest in Kyoto and Nara. The frenzied shopping streets and lights of Umeda and Shinsaibashi are contrasted with ancient cultural sites and traditions further afield to give a complete portrait of the Japanese culture of past and present.
